ND opened up spring practice – the 1st day was indoors with a lot of the usual drills. The QB’s all looked good and they all threw deep. Ian Book seems to have gained arm strength. So far this looks like a good start to the football practice season. Here are some practice clips: Check
The big news is the injury to WR Michael Young. He landed on his shoulder and now has a broken collarbone – surgery is required. There is no time table yet when he will return. Cole Kmet had a similar injury earlier in the practice season. Here is the latest Brian Kelly Press conference: Here

The final day of practice at Culver Academies included full pads with lots of hitting. The only real concern is the injury to starter Tight End Cole Kmet. He has a fractured clavicle. Kyle Hamilton was the day 1 star at practice with 3 picks. I hope our 3rd team QB can step up – not sure at all about number 2. Notre Dame will open Sunday at Culver Academy. 5 days there and then back to campus. There is not much to be learned here except the concern about the LB position. Both Book and Jurkovec camped this summer and Kelly stated they are not going to dabble in Jurkovec’s throwing motion. He’s never seen that
What beautiful weather to play football. These glorified scrimmages tend to get boring nevertheless it was nice to see the perfect 50 yard pass Ian Book threw. Book looked crisp, fast release and almost perfect placement. I believe he has 2 years of eligibility remaining – lets hope he stays. The 2nd string QB needs
