ND QB Ian Book put on a clinic for his former understudy Phil Jurkovec in shredding BC as ND rolled up 557 total yards – all this despite losing 3 fumbles. Book was 20/27 283 yards and 3 TD’s while leading the team in rushing with 85 yards and a TD.

Ben Skowronek got 3 TD’s – 2 of which were jump balls. Javon McKinley and Michael Mayer caught 5 passes each while Avery Davis caught a bomb for a long gain. C’Bo Flemister was the workhorse RB scoring 2 TD’s while bulling into the end zone.

On defense JOK had an eye opening play as he chased down a BC WR and batted the ball away. Jack Kiser also got himself a pick.

The “D” looked a little worn out and have to play better going ahead.

All in all a great game with ND now 8-0 and Kelly gets his 100th win.

This is going to be the Phil Jurkovec show. All eyes will be on him and Ian Book.

Phil left ND after sliding down the depth chart and was especially awful in the Spring game. He just needed a change and BC provided it.

Both HC Jeff Hafley and OC Frank Cignetti are fully behind Phil and now he’s a much more confident QB and BC is doing pretty good with him as their starter.

BC is currently 5-3 and gave Clemson all they could handle with Clemson coming from behind to win 34-28. Last week they squeaked by Syracuse winning by 3 points, I believe.

Phil has passed for 2083 yards, 15 TD’s with 4 picks. And he really can throw deep. He can also run.

This will be a defining game for ND to show that the Clemson win was no fluke – if that ND team shows up I look for ND to blow BC out after a tough first quarter.

For the first 1/2 hour, it looked like this ND Offense slipped back 4 weeks – they looked awful. Once again the Defense saved them.

QB Ian Book was running for his life and was getting hit quite often. The O line as usual were jumping offside and not really blocking for either the run or pass.

Ian Book was again the ND #1 rusher – 66 yards. He even topped BC’s RB AJ Dillon who gained only 56 yards. If the object is to get Book hurt, keep running this unimaginative offense.

Even so, Book was 26/40 for 239 yards and 3 TD’s – Kmet, Claypool and Finke. Braden Lenzy once again took an end around 61 yards for a TD.

If the “O” plays like they did in the first quarter, Stanford could upend them.

It’s too late now, but looking ahead Kelly has to take a serious look at all the offensive coaches – first to go is the the OC.
