Notre Dame vs Navy Predictions 2024

Navy runs the triple option and aside from cut blocks is no match for ND – but you can’t let them control the clock.

The Defense has to stop this and with Bowen destroying QB’s – this will be fun.

ND vs Navy Predictions

ND faces a continuing irritant once again Saturday. This is an utterly useless game each year since World War II. It means nothing and always ends up with leg injuries. They still cut block and are never called for it.

The only way Navy wins is to knock QB Sam Hartman out of the game early. They are going to line up 6 guys vs ND’s guards and now our center has a bad ankle – so good luck with that.

Special teams wins this game for ND.

Score Prediction: ND 42 Navy 9

A Brief History of Notre Dame vs Navy

The Notre Dame vs. Navy football rivalry is one of the oldest and most storied rivalries in college football. It dates back to 1927 and has a rich history filled with tradition, sportsmanship, and camaraderie despite the intense competition on the field.

The rivalry began on October 15, 1927, when Notre Dame and Navy faced off for the first time in Chicago, Illinois. Notre Dame won that inaugural game with a score of 19-6. However, this rivalry gained prominence during World War II when the U.S. Navy’s V-12 training program led to an agreement between the two schools to continue playing despite the war’s disruptions. This decision further solidified the friendly nature of the rivalry, as it showcased the importance of sportsmanship and the unity of the nation during challenging times.

The most notable aspect of this rivalry is the annual game played at a neutral site. From 1927 until 2010, the teams faced each other in various stadiums, often alternating between Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, and Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. This neutral site tradition is symbolic of the close relationship between the U.S. Navy and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

In terms of competition, Notre Dame has historically held the upper hand, consistently fielding strong football teams. However, the U.S. Naval Academy has had its moments of victory as well. Notably, Navy went on an impressive winning streak from 2007 to 2016, which was a period of competitive balance and exciting games.

ND vs Navy Highlights 2021

Another blowout for ND with the defense smothering Navy particularly Kurt Hinish with 10 tackles.

Kurt Hinish with 10 tackles a sack and just mayhem. The whole front 7 played in the Middies backfield — mayhem everywhere.

On offense Jack Coan was 23/29 and a TD. Coan connected with Kevin Austin on a 70 yard TD pass and run that the Navy Safety completely misplayed.

Austin was 6/139 while Williams had 95 yards with 2 TD’s.

Lots of Freshman played and ND just breezed to a win.

ND vs Navy Predictions

We rarely get anything out of this game other than leg injuries and we cannot afford to lose any more defensive players.

Navy, as you know plays the triple option and the key to stopping them is to stop the fullback dive. Then knock the hell out of their QB every play.

Next, you score TD’s every time you get the ball, build up a big lead and run up the score – no mercy for these cut blockers.

Navy is 2-6, but kept most games close by ball possession. Cincinnati only beat them by 7.

Run it up – look for Kyren and Diggs to run all over them.

Score Prediction: Notre Dame 45 Navy 17
