UNC’s roaring offense was shutdown and shutout in the 2nd half of this game. They were completely overwhelmed by the ND “D” who sacked Sam Howell 6 times.

Sam was completely out played by Ian Book who looked like a wizard escaping the rush firing to receivers all over the field – some left hand passes also.

Javon McKinley was 6/135 yards while Michael Mayer snagged 5. Ben Skowronek scored on an 11 yard end around.

The Irish “D” was ferocious and played lights out in the 2nd half.

Make no mistake about it, this was a very good UNC team but no match for ND.

That old Texas coach Mack Brown has rejuvenated UNC into a prolific offense and they stand at 6-2 losing to Florida State and Virginia. UNC is averaging 43 points a game led by a terrific looking sophomore QB Sam Howell who is ranked 9th in pass efficiency.

The UNC defense on the other hand is simply not that good. They gave up 52 points to Wake Forest and 44 to Virginia.

So the deal for this game is simply to outscore the Tar Heels and that means TD’s on every possession. A couple of holds and ND could jump to a big Lead – even if they do they can’t relax for this Howell kid. He is very good at rallying his team from behind.

In other news, Zeke Correll will start at Center while Josh Lugg fills in for Tommy Kraemer at RG due to appendicitis.

ND also got its 24th commit for the 2021 class – Indiana 3 Star CB JoJo Johnson.
